Join us for a three day study tour aimed at protected edible, soft fruit and ornamentals businesses, focusing on the very latest in greenhouse technologies, automation and robotics in production, harvesting and dispatch.
This study tour is part of AHDB’s SmartHort programme of activity, designed to identify innovative solutions to address labour challenges in UK horticulture. Growers attending the study tour will see first-hand how new technologies could help to increase productivity and ease labour demands in their own business.
This extensive study tour will incorporate a visit to the GreenTech Exhibition, technical presentations at Wageningen University and Research Campus and a grower visit to see commercial production technology in use. This study tour will be limited to 20 attendees so make sure you register your interest early!
GreenTech is the global meeting place for all professionals in the horticulture industry, showcasing the latest technology and innovation for the production of vegetables, fruit and ornamentals, focusing on all stages of the horticulture chain and production issues relevant to growers.
Pre-registration prior to the event is recommended, it can be undertaken directly here. Until 5 June 2018 online registration is free; from 6-11 June it costs €40 per person to attend the exhibition and between 12-14 June €70 per person.
On days two and three we will head to Wageningen University and Research Campus, celebrating 100 years of innovative research in agriculture and horticulture. During your visit, there will be a series of engaging and inspiring technical presentations on precision horticulture, innovative greenhouse technologies, sustainable production, vertical farming and more. We will also take you on a lab tour in the Phenomea Building, where research is carried out into the shelf-life of fresh food products and the potential of robotics in the agri-food sector is brought to life.
Before heading home, you will have the opportunity to view the technology in use at Bezoek Agriport - the smart horticulture greenhouse that grows protected edibles in the largest orange pepper production greenhouse in the world.
All coach costs for internal transport in The Netherlands are covered by AHDB Horticulture, but attendees will need to arrange their own flights and cover hotel and food costs (and exhibition costs if tickets are purchased post 5 June). The hotel rooms will be reserved by AHDB. Please see the programme for full details:
