Join us for an overseas study tour to visit PCS (Ornamental Plant Research Station) and local growers around Ghent in Belgium.
This is a great chance for hardy nursery stock (HNS) and ornamentals growers to discuss nutrient management in container-grown crops, examine the potential of real time plant nutrient monitoring and hear about work aimed at minimising the potential risk of nutrient leaching from crops from a number of prominent UK and European researchers.
Visit to Ornamental Plant Research to hear the various speakers covering topics such as sustainable fertigation, the potential of real time nutrient monitoring and nutrient management in crops.
A range of work is undertaken at PCS including optimisation of cultural methods, growth control, energy use and post-harvest research. The main focus of work at the moment is the examination of closed and sustainable systems of production.
The day will begin with a tour of PCS facilities, followed by visits to two nurseries: Tree nursery Dirk Waelkens and D&V Plant Production to view the practical application of some of the topics discussed.
Travel will be via ferry from Dover to Dunkirk and coach through Belgium. AHDB will fund the organisation costs and the coach/ferry costs.
