Extension of Authorisation for Minor Use (EAMU)

The AHDB Horticulture EAMU Programme

With the continuing loss of crop protection products as a result of changing UK and EU legislation, the AHDB Horticulture Extension of Authorisation for Minor Uses (EAMU) programme is vital to ensure UK growers have the essential crop protection products they need to remain competitive. The AHDB Horticulture EAMU programme is needed to:

  •

Support approvals that are no longer supported by the manufacturer.

  •

Support approvals on crops no longer covered due to changes to the Long Term Arrangements for Extension of Use.

  •

Support approvals identified as new opportunities by the industry and AHDB Horticulture-funded research.

Since the AHDB Horticulture EAMU (was SOLA) programme was set up in 1992, it has successfully obtained thousands of approvals for a range of crops and pesticide products for the benefit of British growers. AHDB Horticulture will formally request EAMUs on behalf of the industry, where the need for a product has been identified by a grower or grower group. If you have identified an area where you think our EAMU programme could help, complete and return the EAMU request form The EAMU request form should be completed with full details of the required product, pest, weed and/or disease and returned to hort.info@ahdb.org.uk

AHDB Horticulture will then discuss the potential to obtain an EAMU with the manufacturers and the Chemical Regulations Directorate, and where it is considered suitable an EAMU application will be submitted. Where residues data is required to support such a use, funding for data generation will be considered in discussion with the relevant Crop Panel and / or Grower Association. Feedback on progress of your EAMU request will be provided within 3 months of receipt by AHDB Horticulture.
