Lynden has been in business since 1984 with a background in printing, property and horticulture, and with his brother, runs the family nursery specialising in growing plug plants. In total he employs 50 people.
In 2003 Lynden was elected as a district councillor in the Cotswolds and became Leader of Cotswold District Council in 2006, having previously held the Finance and Environment cabinet posts.
He initiated joint working with neighbouring West Oxfordshire council and has direct responsibility for Budgets, Financial Strategy and Efficiency programmes. For two years running he has delivered the biggest council tax cuts in the country.
In 2009 he was elected as Gloucestershire county councillor for the North Cotswolds. He is a member of the Overview & Scrutiny Management Committee and a Trustee of the Gloucestershire Local Government Pension Scheme, which manages funds in excess of £1.4 Billion.
Lynden is a member of British Mensa and a keen connoisseur of heritage tomatoes and piquillo peppers!
