Michael trained at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, he is currently working as an independent horticultural consultant whilst Director of the National Dahlia Collection.
His career began in Farm and Estate Manager roles looking after Arable, Sheep, Dairy and Beef. His career then moved to bulbs at Winchester Bulb Growers, followed by Operations and Production Director roles at Winchester Growers Limited. Responsible for the company’s two operating sites at Lincolnshire and Cornwall, Michael’s role covered 50 hectares of flower crops including lilies, tulips, gladioli for cut flowers, plus potted bulb products and over 600 hectares of daffodils, agapanthus and Dahlias.
At an industry level, Michael is Vice Chair of HDC’s Protected Ornamentals Panel, a serving member of the RHS Dahlia Trials Committee and Duchy College Horticultural Advisory Committee.
