Reducing residues in strawberries through novel crop protection methods
Growers and retailers are under constant pressure to reduce the use of conventional spray products for pest and disease control. A Defra Horticulture LINK project found novel approaches for controlling pests and diseases in strawberry crops to reduce reliance upon conventional control products. This factsheet summarises the findings for the key pests and diseases including:
- European tarnished plant bug
- Aphids
- Strawberry blossom weevil
- Powdery mildew
- Botrytis
- Blackspot
